Kazakhstan tightens

State Audit Office over the Internet and media, is now equal to the mass media as blogs and chat rooms.

Relevant legislative amendments were unanimously approved on first reading by the lower chamber of parliament, the Majilis , notes Reuters . These amendments must be approved on second reading, and then approved by the upper house and will come into force upon signature of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Changes in legislation on information and communication networks do not only equate all Internet resources, including chat rooms and blogs, the media, but also empower the Prosecutor General to suspend their work for three days without a court decision in the case of “apparent” violation of the Constitution stresses the agency.

According to the agency, the head of the Agency for Informatization and Communication Kuanyshbek Esekeev expressed confidence that the bill will protect the constitutional rights of citizens.
