EU has pledged to developing countries to 50 billion euros to combat climate change. This figure was voiced by European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso at the EU summit in Brussels. According to Barroso, Europe agrees to make a “fair share” of funding to combat global warming, and this share will be “22-50 billion euros.”

However, it remains unclear what will be the final financial contribution to the EU in the proposed global fund to fight climate change. As the Associated Press, European leaders have so failed to agree on specific amounts of funding and thus greatly complicated the task of the international community before the December conference in Copenhagen, which should work out a new agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to replace the Kyoto Protocol.

Meanwhile, Jose Manuel Barroso has shifted responsibility for China and the United States. “We can look into the eyes of the rest of the world and say: we Europeans have done their job. We are ready to Copenhagen “- Mr Barroso said at a press conference.
