Japan will provide Afghanistan with up to $5 billion

Japan is preparing to provide new assistance to Afghanistan of up to $5 billion to help the former Taliban fighters find work and build roads. This is a sharp increase from previous plans to finance the country of Afghanistan, wrote Saturday in the newspaper Nikkei.

Prime Minister Hatoyama Yukio (Yukio Hatoyama), as expected, presents the details of the program through the U.S. President Barack Obama, when he visited Tokyo 12 – 13 November 2009, the newspaper said.

Defense Minister of Japan said that Japan will complete the mission in support of coalition operations in Afghanistan, in January, when their mandate expires. Washington argued that Japan should find another way to contribute to coalition operations in Afghanistan.
