Air travel in Russia went up by 20%

Yevgeny Bachurin, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, on Wednesday stated that since the spring of 2008, prices for airline tickets in Russia will grow by at least 20%. He noted that it is connected with the need to update the fleet of Russian airlines. “From 2001 to 2006, Russian airlines have been only 42 new aircraft in Russia”, – said Bachurin. He noted that 71% of Russian planes did not meet the requirements of noise. Bachurin said that the problem could be solved by buying foreign aircraft, but you need to do to lift protective tariffs on aircraft in at least two segments – with a capacity of up to 70 seats and more than 200 seats.
