retailer Costco quarterly profit rose by 1,1% due to higher sales abroad

world’s largest network of self-service warehouse club type Costco Wholesale Corp. reported a slight increase in quarterly earnings. The reason was the increase in international sales and a weak dollar.

retailer’s profit in I quarter of this fiscal year, which ended Nov. 22 totaled $266 million, or 60 cents per share . This result met expectations of analysts surveyed by the agency earlier Reuters . Thus, the profit increased by 1,1% compared to the same period in 2008, when Costco earned $263 million

During the reporting period, sales at retailers rose 5.5% to $16.92 billion , not counting dues for the right of access to the warehouses of retail chain, whose collection also increased by 5% to $377 million

Costco has 566 warehouses worldwide, including 413 in the United States and Puerto Rico. Sales of commercial network outside the U.S. rose 13%, whereas in the U.S. increased revenue was 1%.

In the past 3 months has registered improvement retailer sales compared with August this year, when sales fell by 2%. Customers recently become not only food, but also sporting goods, clothing and cameras.
