The attack in Baghdad killed 54 people

At least 54 people were killed and 117 injured in the explosion produced a terrorist bomber in the Iraqi capital, reports Reuters.

Woman detonated an explosive device in a group of Shiite pilgrims on their way to the city of Karbala to participate in religious ceremonies dedicated to 40-day period of mourning for Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.

On the security crackdown in Karbala thrown tens of thousands of law enforcement.

The first attack against the Shiites in the current year in addition to acute intra-hatred can lead to destabilization of the political situation in the country ahead of the March elections, Prime Minister. Preparing for re-election, the Shia government, Nouri al-Maliki’s promises to improve public safety, and strengthen partnerships with foreign energy companies to increase production of oil exports.

The nature of today’s bombing is very similar to similar attack in August, October and December last year, killing hundreds of civilians. According to military authorities stationed in the republic of the American contingent, they are intended to undermine the confidence of voters to the current Iraqi government.
