Gazprom considers relevant to building capacity of the daily performance of underground gas storage (UGS). This was reported by the press office of the company as an outcome of the operation and expansion of gas storage in Russia. «At the meeting it was noted that in the long cold spell in autumn-winter period of 2009-2010 years the reliability of the UGS, as an integral part of the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia (ESC), acquires a special significance. It remains an urgent task of capacity building of the daily performance of UGS, “- said in a statement.

In this regard, the meeting considered issues of current Russian gas storage operation and activities to increase their daily productivity. In particular, they discussed cooperation between Gazprom UGS and client organizations in the implementation of investment projects aimed at further improving reliability and performance Neva, in Krasnodar and Kushchevskaya UGS, as well as Kanchurinsko-Musinskogo complex UGS. Also at the meeting discussed the construction of the Volgograd and UGS Kaliningrad – Russia’s first underground gas storage in rock-salt deposits.

Following the meeting core business units of Gazprom and its subsidiaries have been given orders to further development of the UGS to ensure reliability and continuity of the Unified Gas Supply System. Have been identified priorities for capital construction, renovation and reconstruction of underground gas storage in the current year, as well as for the near future.

On the territory of Russia in the operation are 25 underground gas storage facilities with the available supply 64 billion cubic . m. The potential maximum daily capacity UGS at the beginning of the season selection is 620 million cubic meters. m, the average performance of UGS in December-February of 2009-2010 – 500 million cubic meters. m. The development strategy of UGS Gazprom until 2030 based on the following basic principles: to maintain the achieved level of Russian gas storage capacity by upgrading and replacing obsolete and outdated facilities, accelerating the daily performance of Russian gas storage by expanding existing and constructing new UGS, UGS capacities to ensure scarce regions of Russia, the optimal development of gas storage together with the development of ESG, the synchronization modes of operation of UGS and gas trunkline.
