Iranian authorities did not send Russia’s airlines operating in the country, official documents from the requirement to leave the country as soon as possible. This statement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said Russia, with reference to information of Russia Embassy in Tehran. Earlier the head of Ministry of Transport Hamid Behbahani said that Russia’s pilots have two months to leave the country. According to him, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has decided that it makes no sense to rely on foreigners, if Iran has its own professional pilots.

Some analysts have linked the incident with the deterioration of Russo-Iranian relations in connection with Moscow’s position on Tehran’s nuclear program. But Nesterenko believe this version is not unfounded.
