Iran is prepared to compensate Turkey short of Russian gas
January 6, 2009 – 9:39 pmTehran is ready to invite Ankara to increase gas exports from its territory after the delivery of Russian gas to Turkey were halted due to a dispute between Russia and Ukraine, the Associated Press, referring to the Iranian diplomat.
The official Iranian agency IRNA quoted his country’s economic attache in Turkey, which said that Tehran is ready to supply additional volumes of gas available to Turkey in accordance with its technical capability and capacity “in order to compensate for the suspension of Russian supplies.
Iranian diplomat Ahmad Noorani (Ahmad Nurani) said that his country is currently in Turkey to supply 18 million cubic meters of gas per day, a second after Russia’s largest gas supplier Ankara.
